In February 2025, after thorough consideration, I decided to run for Boston City Council District 4. My decision to campaign is based on multiple factors. First and foremost, I believe that holding any elected office is a privilege and a term of service—a service open to all citizens. Active participation in our local communities and affairs strengthens our collective bonds. Without individual engagement, democracy cannot thrive. I hold this principle as fundamental, even at the smallest level of municipal government. Democracy is not a spectator sport; it requires active involvement from everyone. The level of engagement is a personal choice, whether volunteering with a campaign or running for office—both are equally vital.
Secondly, I believe a representative should embody the face and voice of their community. They should engage in a manner that represents their community and seeks out overlooked individuals to advocate for them. Currently, there are members of my community who do not know who represents them in their district or what that representation entails. I aim to change that. I aspire to advocate for the people in my community of Boston—my people. My experience, background, and the relationships I have built over the years within my community make me a strong candidate for this seat.
I understand that the election is still some time away, and I have no illusions about the challenges ahead. This will be an uphill battle with many obstacles to navigate. However, I will approach this campaign with honesty and integrity. This is my commitment.
